Etched or engraved glass

Having your digital photos etched in glass is a way of preserving them forever and they make personalised and classy presents. Your photo's image is engraved into the centre of the glass by laser.

Etched glass products can be made into all sorts of things, but the most popular are paperweights, glass photos, keyrings and necklaces.

Not all of the sites offering print services make etched glass products but here is a list of the one's that we have found:

ColourMailer certainly offers the best choice of etched glass gifts. Many of their products are supplied with a lighted base as this shows them off to their best effect. They also offer three products in 3D rather than the standard 2D, you need a good quality head shot for this process and it's for human portraits only, but ColourMailer can convert your 2D digital image into an impressive 3D glass etching.

Other products in their range are keyrings (with a choice of different coloured lights), pendants, award plaques, glass photos and clocks. They now do glass cube zodiac signs with your photo and text such as birth date.

myPIX also offer a good selection of etched glass gifts such as glass blocks and plates, clocks, Harry Potter paperworks and key chains.

PhotoBox offer three types of etched glass photo frame: a classic glass frame, a cube and a paperweight. There are also two keyrings, one square with a light and one heart-shaped.

Jewellery

There are only a few websites that offer jewellery products, such as gold or silver pendants. Your digital image for these products needs to be a close-up head and shoulder shot – this works best for the finished product.

Bonus Print sell 9ct gold and sterling silver pendants. Their pendants are heart shaped or oval and come with a choice of chains.
